Welcome to Springvale Primary School and welcome also to our website!

Hello, I am Mr Lee McClure…the Executive Headteacher of this wonderful learning community! It is a school to be proud of and one where we all believe that we should come to school to ‘play together, learn together and achieve together…’

We currently serve 210 full-time pupils and their wonderful, supportive families as well as 28 nursery children. We are based on the edge of Penistone, a semi-rural town on the outskirts of Barnsley and Sheffield. We are very proud of our community and we work closely with the families and businesses in the area to ensure that, not only is school thriving and successful, but the whole area is too!

Our curriculum is incredibly exciting and broad. Our children achieve well in the core subjects but they learn across a varied curriculum that covers all areas in a cross-curricular and engaging, thematic style. Staff are skilled and enthusiastic about the learning experiences that we offer and that ensures that our pupils are inspired. We believe that children have many strengths and talents and our extra-curricular programme is second-to-none! We especially encourage creativity, musical talents and sporting excellence at our school!

Our school building was built just 16 years ago (in 2007) as part of the Barnsley Modern Schools programme (PFI building) and we offer children a safe, secure and engaging environment each and every day.

As a school leader my core values include fairness, consistency, respect and trust. I also believe that we are all learners, each and every day, and that we should all strive to improve and take on new challenges. Collaboration is a key feature of our school and this is the reason why we stress the word ‘together’ in our ethos. We believe in working together as staff, pupils, parents and Governors to share, challenge and support each other to be the best that we can possibly be!

We also have high expectations of our children. We do not want to waste time or opportunities to learn and thrive. We have steps to success that the children have created and agreed as a school community and we must all support them to follow these steps; each and every day. We believe that many of our children are ready to lead and we encourage them to play an active role in school organisation including being Play Leaders, lunchtime monitors and receptionists on Parents’ Evenings. We also have a very active and skilled School Council who meet regularly.

I really hope that you like our new website and please do come along and take a look at the great work that is going on at Springvale, everyone is welcome!
